Does Aaron Rodgers Have The Right To Play The Jets’ General Manager?

Aaron Rodgers is now trying to play GM for a team he’s not even on.

Rodgers is trying to sign his old friends from Green Bay, according to reports from ESPN’s Diana Russini. Meanwhile, he’s not even on the Jets yet.

“Aaron Rodgers has provided the NY Jets with a wish-list of free agents he would like them to target and acquire, per sources. It includes Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, Marcedes Lewis and….Odell Beckham Jr.” Russini said on Twitter.

Woah. This is just bizarre if Russini’s report is true. Rodgers, to the NFL world’s knowledge, is still a member of the Green Bay Packers. Does a former MVP like Rodgers really hold this much weight? I can’t even believe that this is real. He literally just wants his friends to play with him.

Rodgers is a complete diva at this point in his career. It’s like he’s afraid to play with new players. What’s even weirder is that New York is not weak on offense. In fact, they have a ton of weapons on that side of the ball… rookie of the year Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, Breece Hall, and more are apparently not enough.

One of the surprising players on this list is free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham never played with Rodgers, although the Packers were rumored to be interested in the former LSU wideout before he was traded to the Rams in 2021.

Even weirder, it looks like the Jets are complying! They are reportedly reaching an agreement with wide receiver Allen Lazard, one of the four players on Rodgers’ wish list. Lazard was Green Bay’s leading receiver last season.

Randall Cobb is a player that Rodgers has been asking for during his entire career. He even asked for the Packers to bring back Cobb when he left a few seasons ago. Rodgers had his arm wrapped around Cobb following the Packers’ week 18 elimination at the hands of the Detroit Lions. In the same vein, Marcedes Lewis is a tight end that Rodgers has played with for five seasons. At least Rodgers has the decency to ask for all players that are free agents. That was really nice of him.

If nothing else, this confirms that Rodgers will be a Jet. Even if the Jets don’t end up with the players on his list, he’s trying to become the general manager of a team, and the team is complying. It’s kind of like the NBA’s LeBron James with the Lakers and Cavaliers.

Just imagine for a second that the Jets acquire all these players, just for Rodgers to not end up a Jet. Cue the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme.
