Did Quin Snyder deserve to be fired?

The Quin Snyder era as the head coach of the Utah Jazz has come to an end.

Snyder took over the Jazz in 2014 and he instantly increased their wins by double digits in that season. The Jazz were just under .500 in 2015 and in 2016 they made the playoffs as the five seed. Subsequently, this ended a four-year playoff drought.

The Jazz would go on to have no less than 44 wins for the next five years. Snyder got the Jazz to the playoffs every year after 2016 and he won the Northwest division twice. Apart from this, he led the Jazz to have the best record in the NBA in the 2020-2021 season. They finished with a 52-20 record in the shorted regular season. This gave Snyder a 372-264 regular-season record in his eight-year career with the Jazz. This left him with a career regular-season winning percentage of .585 with the Jazz.

On the other hand, Snyder’s post-season career with the Jazz was not as successful. In the six years, the Jazz made the playoffs under Snyder they had three first-round exits. In addition to this, the Jazz lost in the semifinals in the other three years meaning they never made it to the Western Conference Finals. This gives Snyder a career post-season record of 21-30 with the Jazz.

Quin Snyder’s roster over the years

Snyder has had a decorated roster with multiple accolades throughout the roster. He coached an All-Star Gordon Hayward in the 2016-2017 season. Additionally, guard Donovan Mitchell and center Rudy Gobert have three All-Star team selections. This is an impressive feat between these teammates even if they do not have the best chemistry. Furthermore, Gobert has been named to six All-Defensive first teams, four All-NBA teams, and he has three Defensive Player of the Year awards. Point guard Mike Conley received an all-star team nod in the 2020-2021 season. Also, guard Jordan Clarkson won a Sixth Man of the Year award in the 2020-2021 season.

That was Snyder’s regular season and post-season career with the Jazz. As well as the all-star caliber players he has coached in his eight-years with the Jazz. Finally, did Quin Snyder deserve to be fired from the Utah Jazz with that eight year résumé?
