Derek Carr Is Happy To Play With His Friend Davante Adams
Derek Carr and Devante Adams were teammates at Fresno State during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The two struck up a great friendship and it was no secret that Adams wanted to play with Carr. Adams saw this wish come true when he was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason.
Derek Carr is just as happy to see Adams in the silver and black.
“But it’s just been fun to have my friend back,” Carr said.

Now, he pair are finally able to play together after nearly a decade apart and it appears like they picked up right where they left off.
“It’s been really fun for us. A lot of inside jokes from college and things like that just came back just like this on the practice field,” Carr said, snapping his fingers in his Tuesday press conference. “And we’re learning each other again as well. We’re both in a new system. It’s not really a system that we’ve been in before, so we’re both learning and growing through that. Like, ‘Hey, I’m going to do it like this next time.’ So we’ve had some fun plays.”

With Josh McDaniels taking over as the head coach, the Raiders will have a new offense this upcoming season. Anytime you are learning a new system there will be mistakes. But, the relationship between Carr and Adams has helped ease the transition.
“The relationship part of it is the easiest part because what we’re both saying to each other, we both understand each other. And we’re getting better. That part’s exciting,” Carr said. “But, again, him and I, we have a long way to go, just like everyone else. We’re learning, we’re getting better, and hopefully put a good product out there when it’s time to take the field.”

Carr and Adams proved to be a dynamic duo in 2013 at Fresno State as they led Fresno State to an 11-2 record. In that season, Carr threw for 5,083 and 50 touchdowns. On the receiving end of that equation, Adams caught 131 passes for 1,719 yards and 24 touchdowns. If offseason training camp is any tell, Carr and Adams seemed destined to have another great season together.
