It hasn’t taken long for Taylor Hall to make a strong impression in Boston. Hall was acquired via trade from the Sabres at the 2021 NHL Deadline and has gotten off to a hot start with the Bruins. The former number one overall pick in 2010 has two goals in his first three games in Boston. David Pastrnak had some high praise for his new teammate.
“I didn’t know much about Taylor beside from playing against him,” Pastrnak said after the win. “I think he’s an elite player. Really great to have him, and he’s proving it the last couple games. He’s been unbelievable.
“He’s a great skater, and we all know that his skill level is really high. It’s good to watch him, too, and learn some things from him. It’s been really nice to have him and he’s been, obviously, playing unbelievable for us so far. We’re really happy to have him here.”
Hall has been skating on that second line with David Krejci and Craig Smith. Hall has looked a hell of a lot more lively than he did in Buffalo. That’s for damn sure. Hall was acquired along with Curtis Lazar for a second round pick and Anders Bjork. It’s way too soon to say but the trade looks worth it for Boston. The Bruins are 3-0 since the trade.
Don Sweeney clearly has faith that this team can make a cup run. Mike Reilly also looks like a hell of an addition on the back end. Boston needs to strike during the prime years of Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand. If Hall continues to perform, Boston will likely want to keep him around for years to come. It sounds like Hall would like that as well.
