Dave Portnoy announced on Twitter that he will be running for President of the United States.
Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports has taken his career to new heights in the last few years, and most recently he sold the majority of Barstool Sports to Penn National Gaming.
Since the pandemic, Portnoy has done a wide variety of content, but his rants about the way the country is being governed has taken him into a different type of world, politics.
Portnoy has started the Barstool Fund, a charity to help small businesses that are struggling to stay open and pay their employees during the pandemic.
He is an ultra competitive guy, so when this tweet came out with odds as to who was going to win the Republic primary, Portnoy was listed at 0% and that made him mad.

I figured that would have been the end of that, a joking tweet to engage with the political side of Twitter, but that was not the end of it. He then received a reply saying he needed to have a running mate to jump in the polls, and boom, Portnoy is officially putting himself in the running.
“Fine. I am officially announcing I am running for President of the United States. However if I don’t jump the other 0% guy in the next polls I’m withdrawing.”

This is not the first time Portnoy has run a campaign, he once was a candidate for Mayor of Boston, his hometown. That campaign in 2014 was interrupted by the Boston Bombing, so he did not get elected to office.
