Daniel Jones Feels Pressure Due to His Lack of Success
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has struggled to find success in his first three seasons in the NFL and it’s begun to weigh on him.
“The lack of success? Um, yeah, it weighs on me a great deal,” Jones told Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. “When you put a lot of time and effort into something and you don’t see the results, I think that’s tough when you’re doing anything. Playing football in the NFL, playing football in New York, I think there’s a heavy weight to that. I and the whole team feel that and we’re working as hard as we can to avoid being in this situation in the future. Yeah, it weighs on me heavy.”

After three NFL seasons, Jones has thrown for 8,398 yards while posting a 45 to 29 touchdown to interception ratio. He also fumbled 36 times during this time. Needless to say, Jones has failed to lead the Giants to sustained success while being unable to display any signs of progression.
Heading into his fourth season, Jones feels the same level of motivation as he looks to turn a corner in his career.
“I think I have plenty of motivation,” Jones said. “I feel I work hard, I’ve worked hard before, and I’ve always worked hard for myself and worked hard for my teammates. I don’t think that changes, really. It is what it is, and I’ll keep doing what I’ve been doing and improve and refine my process.”

Jones has yet to live up to the hype that comes with being selected sixth overall. After an underwhelming start to his career, the Giants declined his fifth-year option which will make the quarterback a free agent after this offseason.
