Montreal Canadiens Forward Cole Caufield out for season after Shoulder Injury
Canadiens young star forward Cole Caufield will be out for the season after season ending shoulder injury according to a Canadiens press release.
The Canadiens press release added information on their star forwards situation. “Caufield suffered a season-ending injury to his right shoulder and will undergo surgery in the near future. An update of his recovery period will be issued after the medical procedures.“
It was announced on Twitter by Renaud Lavoie that Caufield has been playing through his right shoulder injury for some time now and was seen almost wincing in pain on the bench during games. More news about his presumed surgery will be released as soon as possible.
This seems to be bad news for the Canadiens and Caufield himself. Multiple sources claimed that contract talks were starting to brew for the young Canadiens star. Kent Hughes, Montreal’s general manager said this when regarding his talks on contract before Caufield’s season was cut short.
“One thing for sure is we want to keep Cole Caufield long term and I think Cole Caufield wants to stay with us long term,” Kent Hughes said at the Canadiens practice facility in Brossard, Quebec.
The Canadiens hope to lock up Caufield for the future, as he is one of the cornerstones for this desperate Montreal franchise. It wasn’t long ago that the Canadiens had an appearance to the Stanley Cup final back in 2021. This Canadiens ship has slowly steered in the wrong direction, as they missed the playoffs with an abominable record and are looking like they will be tanking once again.
Overall, Canadien fans around the world will be looking toward a more positive note as with Caufield out, the chance of getting the golden boy, Connor Bedard, looms closer to their grasp to turn this franchise back around.
