With the season-ending injury of Deshaun Watson, the Cleveland Browns have signed former Joe Flacco to their practice squad, Ian Rapoport first reported Sunday.
He is very likely to be upgraded to their active roster ahead of their Week 12 contest against the Denver Broncos. The Joe Flacco signing is a very smart decision by the Cleveland Browns, as he will give more depth and be a mentor to the young quarterbacks.

Flacco, 38, will initially be behind rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and P.J. Walker on the depth chart.
Thompson-Robinson got his first career victory in a 13-10 victory over a well-coached Pittsburgh Steelers team. He finished the game 24-for-43, 165 yards and one interception. It was an ugly performance, but a win is a win. Flacco being added to the roster will give the aforementioned signal callers, who have made 11 combined NFL starts, veteran leadership.
The Cleveland Browns, who are seeking their second playoff berth since 2002, sit at 7-3 and are second in the AFC North behind the Baltimore Ravens, who are 8-3. Flacco adds depth in the case of injury or under-performance. He last suited up for the New York Jets last season, making three starts and going 1-3. He completed 57.6 percent of his attempts for 1,051 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions.
This is not the first time Joe Flacco has been on a team to mentor a younger player, mentoring Zach Wilson with the Jets the last two seasons. This marks Joe Flacco’s 16th year in the NFL; he’s spent time with the Jets, Broncos and Ravens, where he spent the first 11 years of his career.
