Chris Rodriguez 2023 NFL Draft Profile

Ke’Shawn Vaughn except bigger and slower? Not to bury the lead here but that might be exactly what you’re looking at when it comes to Chris Rodriguez. Things might get a little uncomfortable when we dive into Chris Rodriguez so prepare yourself in advance. Let’s get right into it. Here is your 2023 NFL Draft Profile on the Kentucky running back.

Yes, I’ve been on record for calling Chris Rodriguez a fat turd. I still feel that way. Again, that may sound harsh but this one for me is really easy. Rodriguez should either keep bulking season going for too long or will end up just like Benny Snell. A former Kentucky running back that’s a big body but has no juice. Baring an unforeseen move to fullback, Rodriguez feels very similar to Snell. Anybody keeping up with Benny Snell lately? What’s his value?

6-foot, 217, power back that can’t do much else. No 40 time for Rodriguez but that wasn’t surprising. We already know he can’t really run and that only confirmed it. During the season, the lack of change of direction really stood out. He’s got one gear and the one gear isn’t able to function in short areas that require quickness.

Rodriguez does have some production. He’s a two time captain for Kentucky if that counts for anything. The talent track record just isn’t there. Former 3-star recruit and the efficiency dropped the bigger he got at school. Rodriguez’s yard per carry average dipped in four consecutive years. The best season of his career came in 2021 from a total yardage and touchdown perspective.

I just fail to see how Chris Rodriguez clears the bar from a speed and quickness perspective. Best case, you’re looking at a power back that can be part of a committee. I have an undrafted grade on Rodriguez.
