Can Julio Jones Actually Be Fantasy Relevant With The Bucs?

Did we all give up too soon? Call it a Week 1 overreaction. I don’t care. Isn’t it time to start asking the question… Can Julio Jones actually be fantasy relevant with the Bucs? Maybe the narrative of Julio being totally washed just isn’t true? After Week 1, it’s certainly something that needs to be discussed.

I have no idea if our team is putting out a waiver wire column for every week. What I would say is that if I were writing one, Julio would have to be pretty high on the list. Did you guys see what I saw? The former Falcons and Titans receiver finished Week 1 with three catches for 69 yards including this one team ball that was launched by Tom Brady.

Julio was still doing Julio things. He walked over to the sidelines after this catch and giggled. We know the gas tank is close to empty but a few times a game, it still looks like the special still exists. Giving up a second rounder for Julio might have been insane. Getting him for free certainly appears to be a smart gamble.

By the way, Julio looks like he’s still got the juice. The man can still really run and that matters. Check this cheese out.

I was all aboard the Chris Godwin train this year. I thought his fantasy ranking was downright disrespectful. It remains to be seen how serious the new hamstring injury is. However, if Godwin is hurt even for a few weeks, Julio Jones is likely going to step into that role. Russell Gage is another option but after what we saw last night, it’s tough to sit here and say you’re rolling with Gage if Julio still has juice left.

I think this is real. Tampa isn’t going away. Tom Brady also looked damn good last night. No issues throwing any sort of ball. Can Julio Jones be fantasy relevant in Tampa? The question should be hell yeah! The only real concern here is whether Julio can maintain his health over the course of the season. If so, Julio may wind up being a gem on the waiver wire. This Tampa offense will continue to be electric all season. I’m buying this stock if you’re selling.
