Buffalo Bills 2019 NFL Draft War Room

2019 NFL Draft

2019 NFL Draft
Tre’Davious White was a home run pick by the Buffalo Bills and Brandon Beane. Let’s head inside their war room for the 2019 NFL Draft (Derik Hamilton/UPI)

The Buffalo Bills are all in on Josh Allen. What should we make of him? Well, it’s probably too early to say but his highs are real high and his lows are real low. The Bills also don’t have a ton of talent on either side of the ball. They had a chance to acquire Antonio Brown but it didn’t look like he had any interest in playing there. With a top 10 pick, the Bills need to hit to start building a young core for the future. Now that the 2019 NFL Draft is almost here, let’s head inside the Buffalo Bills draft war room.

First Round (Pick 9) – I mocked DK Metcalf here earlier but the Bills signed John Brown and Cole Beasley this offseason. With Robert Foster, I’m not sure the Bills go receiver anymore. It’s still possible but maybe that makes them lean offensive line. How about Jonah Williams? Give the Bills their left tackle of the future. That improves the Bills at two spots because Dion Dawkins can move back to guard where he has Pro Bowl potential. Giving Josh Allen more protection makes a lot of sense.

Second Round (Pick 40) – The Bills could use a pass rusher. Jerry Hughes is good but they could use another guy. I think Jachai Polite is a steal here if available. He’s going to fall because of bad combine interviews but this is a really good player. Great speed off the edge and a true sack artist. The Bills really haven’t had that guy who can rack up 15 sacks in a year for a long time. It’s something the Bills need to think about.

Third Round (Pick 75) – Kyle Williams retired this year. The good news is there is a player from the University of Washington who is his clone. Greg Gaines is a low leverage player and really pushes the pocket. Star Lotulelei hasn’t played well since signing that big free agent deal from Carolina either. Gaines is a player who commands the double team and plays the run well. I love the fit here.

Outside of that, you have to like what Sean McDermott has going here. The Bills aren’t terrible on the defensive side of the ball. They just need more talent. More defense and improvements from Josh Allen gets them closer.
