Brevin Jordan is one of the most talented tight ends in the 2021 NFL Draft. The problem is we just don’t always see it. The Miami product has all the tools to become a top tier option but is very much considered a boom or bust prospect. Should teams make him a priority? Let’s dive into the Brevin Jordan 2021 NFL Draft profile.
If you were to build a tight end in a factory, he would look a lot like Jordan. The problem is half the time you can never find him. He feels a lot like David Njoku. Talented, looks the part, shows flashes, then ghost town.
Jordan checks in at 6-foot-3, 247. The Vegas native was the number one tight end recruit in the country in 2018 coming out of Bishop Gorman. Jordan started off hot contributing right away as a true freshman. It just never felt like he got any better since that time.
In eight games in 2020, Jordan had 38 receptions, 576 yards, 15.2 average, seven touchdowns. Not a bad stat line by any means. The blocking needs work but Jordan should be a ready made receiver. Whether it be in line or out on the slot, Jordan can catch the ball and make plays.
There’s a rawness to Jordan’s game. Very tight hipped, balance is shaky, and rounded route running. He’s a great athlete playing football. Not a good athlete who also is a good football player. He’s also not really a refined pure hands catcher. I’ve seen a number of drops or even balls he lets get into his body and fumbles.
Personally, I’d be scared to draft Jordan. Fair or unfair, a lot of these Miami tight ends have been underwhelming. I have Jordan ranked third on my tight end list but multiple tiers below the top two guys on the board. Jordan should be considered a project that has a chance to hit and hit big.
