The Eagles had a big decision to start the offseason. Do you tag Nick Foles and try to trade him or do you let him walk and collect the 2020 compensatory pick that will eventually come your way. Well, the Eagles choose the latter option and the big reason why was to get a head start on free agency. That included Brandon Graham who was the Eagles biggest impending free agent who was about to hit the open market. Graham and the Eagles just agreed to an extension.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was the first to report the news:
Graham, 30, notched just 4 sacks in 2018 but that really doesn’t tell the story. Graham was the 8th best edge rusher in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus because he racks up a ton of pressure on the quarterback. Graham’s 42 1/2 sacks
Graham should also age really well. He plays the run very well and his game is based on power. More like a James Harrison type that played into his late 30’s. Graham has one of the better bull rush moves in the NFL. Keeping the former Michigan first round pick retains what is arguably the best defensive front in the NFL.
Howie Roseman just does it again. Where does he find the cap space to do all this! According to Overthecap.com, the Eagles had just $6 million in space prior to the deal. I truly don’t know how Howie does it but he finds a way to sign players with no cap room.
