Bagdonas made a note that Blake Martinez was trash in the latest episode of That’s Some Cheese. For those that remember, it was the infamous moment when Chickster admitted that his beloved franchise was trash. Few days later, boom, Blake Martinez retires. Some say that it was Bagdonas that pushed him into retirement. We cannot confirm or deny those claims at this time.
The former Packer, Giant and Raider announced his retirement via Instagram:
“I’m announcing my retirement from the game of football,” Martinez wrote on Instagram. “I had an amazing journey with some incredible franchises, and made lifelong friendships. I have chosen to step away from this career at this time to focus on my family and future passions! I am excited for this new journey and appreciate all the fans and organizations that have supported me throughout the years!”
Martinez, 28, appeared in four games for the Raiders including an 11 tackle performance this past week against Jacksonville. Even if Bagonas bullied him into retirement, it was a hell of a career for the former 4th round pick in 2016 out of Stanford.
Even if Bagdonas didn’t bully Martinez into retirement, the Raiders probably did. Or the other way around. What is even the point of finishing this 2022 season with the Raiders? It’s not like this team is postseason bound and Martinez didn’t exactly have a never ending list of suitors after signing this past October.
At the end of the day, Martinez compiled 706 tackles, 13.0 sacks, four interceptions, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries during his seven year career. Not bad for a 4th round pick! The Packers can draft sometimes!
