The Falcons continued to bolster their offense by drafting running back Bijan Robinson with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. His last two years at Texas saw him jump up draft boards and turned him into one of the most dynamic prospects in this draft.
Last season, he turned 258 carriers into 1580 yards with 18 rushing touchdowns. He also showed his abilities as a receiver, hauling in 19 receptions for 344 yards and two additional touchdowns through the air.
His impressive stats and the raw ability he displays on the field made him a target for many NFL teams. Which makes him an even bigger target for those of us engaged in dynasty fantasy leagues. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what Bijan Robinsons’ dynasty value is in the coming years.
As is the case for most rookies, Robinson’s play/value will be dependent on the weapons he has around him. This Atlanta offense is one that can make some serious noise if Desmond Ridder takes the necessary steps.
The weapons are there, seeing as the Falcons have now used their last three first-round picks on offensive players. (Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and now Robinson). The weapons are there to make for an elite offense. But I fear that Arthur Smith and Ridder will just hold this offense back.
The one thing Robinson does have going for him is how reliant the Falcons are on the run game. Last year, Atlanta was No. 3 in total rush yards over the course of the season, so it’s clear that rushing opportunities will be plentiful for Bijan in his first year with the team.
I don’t see how Bijan Robinson doesn’t establish himself as a fantasy RB1 by the end of the season, so he should be a name you are targeting in any sort of Dynasty Draft you are doing. This is a kid with god-given abilities in a situation where he will get to be the bell-cow back.
His only competition right now is 32-year-old Cordarrelle Patterson, who fell back to earth last year, and Tyler Allgeier, who although looked impressive at times last year, will certainly be taking a back seat to Bijan.
The raw talent of Robinson in a situation as ideal as Atlanta should have you doing whatever you can to secure him in dynasty leagues. He is going to be very good early and can be your RB1 for years to come.
