Former NBA star Ben Gordon has been arrested on allegations that he assaulted two security guards at a McDonald’s in Chicago. Gordon was arrested at around 3:30 am on Friday when police responded to a report of disturbance by a man being escorted out of the McDonald’s.
He allegedly threw both the guards over while punching one of them in the face. The Former Bulls star is being charged with misdemeanor battery causing bodily harm and battery making physical contact.
They say when it rains it pours. And in the life of Ben Gordon, it’s pouring pretty damn hard. Ben Gordon is certainly no stranger to run-ins with law enforcement. Less than a month ago he was arrested for punching his 10-year-old son in the face while boarding a flight to Chicago. Two officers were injured on that arrest as well.
The list doesn’t end there though. He’s been arrested for crimes such as, pulling a firearm, forging license plates, and wielding a knife during a robbery. It’s been quite the fall from grace for the once-great shooting guard. And last night’s events don’t make the fall any more graceful.
Ben Gordon has also opened up about his battle with Depression and suicidal thoughts he had at one point in time. I really do help Gordon gets the help he needs because as a fan of the game I hate seeing players I once admired become broken shells of themselves.
Mental illness is obviously no joke and that again is why I hope first and foremost he gets the help he needs. Because it’s clear that he is not in the right headspace now and is spiraling in the wrong direction.
Gordon, whom made a name for himself during his 11-year career in the NBA with the Bulls, Pistons, Hornets, and Magic. Has taken quite a fall from the stardom he once had and it’s honestly just sad to see. I really do hope he gets the necessary help because it’s clear right now that he needs it.
