Bears Defense limits Packers Fantasy Options

Should fans be worried about Bears and Packers fantasy options? First of all, let’s just go on record that this will have nothing to do with Aaron Rodgers because he’ll still put up points. Even though he only put up 12.9 points via ESPN leagues, that’s against the Bears defense, who’s the best in the NFL. But let’s talk about the other fantasy options.

Mitch Trubisky

Mitch Trubisky? More like Trashbitchsky. He was absolutely horrendous Thursday night. Only reiterating what Trey Daubert has been saying all along: He’s absolutely trash. Mitch put up an embarrassing 8.2 points. He had two interceptions, while throwing for 228 yards….on 45 ATTEMPTS. Although Aaron Rodgers is happy that “We got a defense,” that defense isn’t that good to make you believe it’s a top 5 or even top 10 defense. Mitch is really just that bad.

Bears RBs

After the Bears RAVED about David Montgomery, they only gave him 6 rushing attempts for 18 yards. Don’t get me wrong 3 yards for a carry is a good average for RB, it’s just mind-boggling that the lack of usage he got. He barely got 5 fantasy points. Tarik Cohen was better for the Bears, but still underperformed to an average Packers defense. In a PPR league, he did okay, with 8 receptions and 49 yards, he ended up with 12.9 points. But had no rushing attempts, so he’s probably not the best option in any other type of league. Mike Davis, the 3rd RB, had 19 rushing yards, 6 receptions, 17 receiving yards. This totaled out to 9.6 points. Which isn’t ideal if he is also on your fantasy team. However, if you had all 3, that would equal out to 28 points, which is a good day….for one RB. SELL Chicago RBs for whatever you can get.

Chicago WRs

Looking at Chicago WRs, Allen Robinson was the only bright spot. He had 17.2 points on 7 receptions and 102 receiving yards. This is a good day for any other WR. The other WRs for the Bears did horribly. Anthony Miller, who was supposed to be a solid fantasy option, had a big ol’ goose egg Thursday night. It’s not all his fault though, he only had one target from Mitch Trubisky. Taylor Gabriel had 4.4 points from 2 receptions and 24 receiving yards. He wasn’t supposed to do well being lower on the depth chart but still. Cordarrelle Patterson only had 1 point from 1 reception.

Bears Defense vs Packers Defense

The Bears defense, as good as it is, only had 10 points. They did hold Aaron Rodgers to only 10 points but sometimes the talent doesn’t always translate to fantasy points. Due to the fact that Mitch Trubisky is absolute booty cheeks, the Packers had 13 points. As mentioned before, this defense isn’t as good as they played last night I swear. Mitch is just that bad and as soon as we can accept that, the better our analysis of the Bears will be.

Packers RBs

The Packers RBs were disappointing. There was plenty of hype around Aaron Jones, but he only accumulated 4.9 points off of 39 rushing yards and 1 reception. Jamaal Williams was not a good option either as he only had 3.5 points with 2 receptions and 15 receiving yards. This was against the best defense in the NFL of course, but so far I’m not buying the hype in Aaron Jones.

Packers Receiving Options

Speaking of hype let’s talk about the Packers WRs, especially Davante Adams. Adams was supposed to be at least a top 5 fantasy receiving option this year after a stellar year last year. Well, that campaign is off to a rough start as he had 7.6 points with 4 receptions and 36 receiving yards. I can’t use the Bears defense excuse this time, Adams is a top fantasy option, if he wants to show it he needs to better than this. Hell, Marquez Valdes-Scantling had more points than him at 9.2 points. He had 52 receiving yards off of 4 receptions. Jimmy Graham, the one that caught the only touchdown in Thursday’s game had a decent game as a TE for 12 points. This might be an overreaction but I’m not buying the Adams hype, sell him while you have the chance, someone will overpay for him.

This was a very telling game at how good some fantasy options really are. Sell Mitch, cause it won’t get much better from here for him. I’d trade Adams, because if he continues to underperform you’ll lose out on value because he has a lot of hype right now. Conversely, look for Valdes-Scantling in your leagues, with Adams being a focus of the defense, Valdes-Scantling could have a decent year in deeper league. STAY AWAY FROM THE CHICAGO RBs! There’s too many touches going around for any good fantasy value there. Trade Mitch for a bag of chips, at least the chips will bring you some short-term happiness.
