Nick Foles is heading to the Windy City! Chicago has traded for Nick Foles to come in and compete with Mitch Trubisky. In return, the Jags will receive a 4th round pick. Classic move by Chicago. Bring in a quarterback that’s capable but not good enough to where they are forced to start Foles over Mitch. Classic Ryan Pace move right there.
Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the news:
I gotta be honest here, I can’t believe Foles actually had value. I would have thought the Jaguars would have to attach a pick just to get rid of his contract. Foles signed a 4-year deal worth $88 million last offseason. Most of the deal is heavily guaranteed. I wrote it at the time. Who the hell were the Jaguars bidding against? It was a ridiculous contract at the time. I’m shocked a team was not only willing to take on that contract but give up a draft pick in addition to that.
Jacksonville did well here to get any value. Gardner Minshew has now been handed the starting job. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what they’re doing. The Jags want to land Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville has sold off most of their value parts for draft picks.
The best prop bet of all. Which week does Nick Foles take over full time? Will this be the year the Bears finally admit the Trubisky mistake? One that everyone with a brain should have seen coming. I’ll go with Week 6 and then they revert back to Trubisky two weeks later. That feels right.
