Andrew Wiggins: “You always want to shut up the people that doubt you.”

Andrew Wiggins is not a bust, but he’s also hasn’t lived up to expectations. Granted, people had him as the second coming of Lebron, which even then seemed far fetched to me. He hasn’t played bad really in his career, he just wasn’t a star. I blame scouts and people for putting high expectations for players that haven’t played in the NBA. Because Wiggins was hyped so much, his numbers seem meh. But if he was drafted later, he’d be a decent pick. However, he has posted career highs this year and the month of November. He had 24.8 PPG on 54.5 TS%, 5.4 RPG, and 3.5 APG. Wiggins has been no stranger to harsh criticisms because of what he was “supposed’ to be. Yaron Weitzman of Bleacher Report reports Wiggins quote:

“You hear it, on social media, when you turn on the TV and watch sports, you always see certain stuff; certain people say certain things,” he said. He did his best to remain positive, to try tuning out the noise. “It never really got to me to the point where, you know, it messed up my lifestyle, my life,” he said. “I love myself more than anyone loves me.” But he does admit there have been times, especially last year, when all the criticism dragged him down.

“I’d go through a slump, and then you can’t help but hear it, and then you’re like, ‘F***,’” Wiggins said. “You always want to shut the people up that doubt you.”

Andrew Wiggins has a career average of 19.6 PPG, 2.2 APG, and 4.3 RPG. These aren’t superstar numbers, but to say he’s been his whole career is just incorrect. Andrew Wiggins will never be able to silence the noise, but he can at least quiet it down with how he has been performing. He’s still only in his 6th year in the league. He’s still so young and still has time to develop his game. Andrew Wiggins along with Karl Anthony-Towns look poised to make the playoffs as of right now. If Wiggins continues to play like this, then they should have no problem with that goal.
