Just as things were looking up for the Denver Broncos, some devastating news like this dropped. Alex Singleton, the Bronco’s best linebacker, has reportedly torn his ACL and will miss the rest of the 2024-2025 season. Through three games, Singleton was the Broncos leading tackler, with 31. He played every single defensive snap in Denver’s 26-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that the injury occurred when safety Brandon Jones intercepted Tampa QB Baker Mayfield, which was just the eighth defensive snap of the game. This means that Alex Singleton played the rest of the game on that torn ACL, what a trooper.
When told about what happened to his stud linebacker, Broncos rookie QB Bo Nix said, “That one’s tough…” If there’s a, probably a story, if I had to explain Alex in one thing, what type of guy he is, it would be that … I talked to him at half and he didn’t really say anything.” Not the most well-put-together sentence from Nix, but he means that Singleton is just that type of guy, not one to make a problem, just has that head down and get the job done mentality.
After the win, Alex had expressed to the Broncos medical team that he had soreness in his knee. An MRI was taken in Tampa shortly after the game and confirmed Denver fan’s fears. He had torn a ligament and would miss the rest of the season.
Next week will be the first game Singleton will miss since becoming a Bronco back in 2022. In those two seasons, he led the team in tackles with 163 in 2022 and 177 last year. He is a critical part of the Denver defense and will be hard to replace on such short notice.
