Veteran WR A. J. Green has retired after 12 years in the NFL with the Cardinals and Bengals

After 12 years in the NFL, AJ Green has decided to hang the cleats up after an announcement he sent out on his Instagram.

Wow, I can’t believe I am writing an article on AJ Green retiring. It felt like he was just drafted to the Bengals and in his prime. This man was my childhood. I drafted him every year in fantasy football. He was one of my all-time favorite players to watch.

In his post, Green kept it short with his retirement letter. “I’ve never been a man of many words, so I’ll keep this short,” said Green. “Thank you. Thank you to all who have supported, encouraged, and inspired me throughout my career. Special thank you to the University of Georgia, Cincinnati Bengals, and Arizona Cardinals for the opportunity to pursue my dreams. I’ve stayed true to the game, and it owes me nothing. Be blessed.. Love y’all! The next chapter begins…” Via Green’s Instagram.

Undoubtedly, Green was one of the best WRs in the NFL in the 2010s. In his first seven years in the NFL, Green had eclipsed over 1,000 yards in six of them. Falling only 36 yards short of 1,000 yards in his sixth season. He later went on to play for the Arizona Cardinals in his final two seasons in the league where he scored five touchdowns and racked up around 1,100 yards.

I think all NFL fans can just sit back and thank Green for all that he has done in his football career. He was one of the most exciting players to watch in the 2010s. Thank you A. J. Green and happy retirement, from all NFL fans.
