AJ Brown Is The Elite Fantasy Receiver No One Is Talking About

We’ve already known AJ Brown is an athletic freak of nature. The question with him in fantasy has never been about his talent. His only roadblock has been garnering enough targets and opportunities when he was on the run first Tennessee Titans with the very average Ryan Tannehill. Now, he’s on the Philadelphia Eagles with a new scheme and an unproven Jalen Hurts as his quarterback. Understandably, the fantasy football hype has been quite mellow regarding AJ Brown, but I think he’s far too underrated in drafts this year.

For starters, a lot of this belief in Brown boils down to if Hurts can get the job done or not. I think he will. I’ve always been a big Hurts believer, and he has been working on making the necessary improvements this off-season, which gives me a strong sense of hope in his play this year. On top of that, we’ve seen the great impact that playing with an elite wide receiver can have on a young quarterback’s play with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs or Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins. AJ Brown being an Eagle can only elevate Hurts this season with his insane YAC ability and tremendous catch radius.

The biggest reason for my optimism with Brown this season, though, has to be the training camp reports and videos that have been raving about the Ole Miss product this summer. He’s completely dominated defensive backs and the Eagles target share, showing me he’s ready to have a massive season. Hurts trusts him and will look to him a lot, especially with 50/50 balls and in the red zone. That trust is huge for fantasy success, and is probably the biggest reason I’m in on AJ Brown this season.

Don’t get me wrong, Brown isn’t cheap in drafts by any means. He is, however, in my opinion a value at his current cost and is going after receivers that I think he finishes ahead of (Tee Higgins, Keenan Allen, Mike Evans, Tyreek Hill). Brown is in line for a big season, and should finish inside the top ten for receivers this year. I have absolutely no problem with having him in my lineup as my leading wide receiver, especially when taking into account how deep the receiver position is this year. If I’m being honest, a top 3 finish isn’t off of the cards for him.
