AEW Rampage Preview (9/30/22): AEW Tag Team Titles on the Line
AEW Rampage is set to feature a couple of matches, notably a triple threat match for the AEW tag team championships. Other bouts include grudge matches and an appearance from another champion.
AEW Rampage has been seriously lackluster of late. It’s clear the show is a second thought for the company and they don’t devote too much time to it. With the Hurricane Ian hitting Florida, Tony Khan said that any wrestlers in the company who don’t want to do the show, don’t have to. So some big names might be missing, but the show must go on. Here’s a preview of what to expect heading into AEW Rampage.
HOOK Appears
FTW champion HOOK is coming off an impressive win on AEW Rampage Grand Slam. He teamed up with Action Bronson to take on Matt Menard and Angelo Parker. He got revenge on Menard and Parker after they attacked him following a match between HOOK and Parker. It’s unclear what HOOK is going to be doing, but one thing is for sure, it’s probably going to end in a fight.
Lee Moriarty vs Fuego Del Sol
Lee Moriarty recently aligned himself with The Firm, a group of men who come together when MJF needs them and go their separate ways when he doesn’t. This is Moriarty’s first singles competition in two months. He is looking to prove a point and make a dominant statement by beating Fuego Del Sol. Fuego Del Sol has quite a number of losses in AEW. He’s currently sitting at 59 defeats in his AEW career, but one thing about Fuego is he never backs down from a challenge. Fuego can change the landscape of his young career by picking up a victory. One win can get his career on the right track and can lead to more opportunities. Defeating Moriarty is no easy task, though. Moriarty is trying to make a statement out of Fuego Del Sol and send a message to everyone in the locker room.
Jamie Hayter vs Willow Nightingale
This match came to be from the lumberjack match between Toni Storm and Serena Deeb. Hayter, along with the other lumberjacks, got a little too physical for Nightingale’s liking. The two got into a scuffle and Hayter retreated to the back with Nightingale hot in pursuit.
Now, these two get to settle their business in the middle of the ring on AEW Rampage. This is going to be Jamie Hayter’s first singles match in over a month. She is looking to pick up a good win over a talented wrestler in Willow Nightingale. The pair have never met in singles action before, but they are two extremely talented wrestlers. This one has all the makings to be a really good match.
Jon Silver vs RUSH
Over the past few months, John Silver has mostly competed in AEW Dark. He’s been racking up wins trying to climb in the rankings. On Rampage, he faces a ruthless competitor in RUSH. RUSH is a part of Andrade el Idolo’s team. Andrade has been trying to recruit Number 10, a member of the Dark Order, to work for him.
It’s no secret that the Dark Order and Andrade’s team don’t like each other. Silver now has an opportunity to get revenge on Andrade and Rush. Silver has over 60 wins in his AEW career and having one against RUSH is a big deal. RUSH is a violent and physical wrestler, so picking up a win over him is a big accomplishment. RUSH is looking to prove that you don’t mess with Andrade’s team, hunting for a statement victory at the expense of Silver.

Private Party vs Butcher & Blade vs The Acclaimed (c)
The Acclaimed are making their first title defense since becoming the new champions at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam. Also, their first title defense is a triple threat match. This means that the odds are against them retaining their titles. Neither Private Party, nor the Butcher and the Blade have won gold in AEW. Despite them being a part of the company for a while, they haven’t become champions. This is an opportunity that doesn’t come around often.
Both teams are looking to shock the world and have The Acclaimed’s run come to end. This is going to be an early test for The Acclaimed. Everything is stacked against them in their first title defense. Picking up a win against Private Party and the Butcher and the Blade, will help establish them as champions. Private Party and the Butcher and the Blade have their fair share of wins in AEW, so it will be no easy task for The Acclaimed to walk out as champions.
