AEW Rampage Preview (7/15/22): World Title on the Line

AEW Rampage is the second show in the Fyter Fest lineup, a two-week event spanning over four shows. The show is packed full of action and high-quality matches. Although Rampage is only one hour, it feels like over two hours of action. There is a lot to look forward to with this show, so let’s go over the preview for it.

We Hear from the Gunn Club

We are going to hear why the Gunn Club turned on the Acclaimed. The Gunn Club and the Acclaimed have formed an alliance over the past month, as Max Caster and Anthony Bowens looked at Billy Gunn as a father figure. The whole storyline was extremely entertaining. Business picked up when Bowens accidentally hit Austin Gunn in the face with his crutch. The two groups, besides Billy Gunn, got into a shoving match. Billy Gunn broke it up and seemingly took the side of the Acclaimed. The following week, the Gunn Club turned on the Acclaimed attacking them in the process. We are going to hear why the Gunn Club did what they did on AEW Rampage.

Charlette & Robyn Renegade vs Kris Statlander & Athena

Statlander and Athena are teaming up to build some momentum. Both women are eyeing the TBS Champion, Jade Cargill. They have had their fair share of issues with Cargill and are on the same page about wanting to take her down. They both want a shot at the title, while Cargill hasn’t given them what they want. Robyn and Charlette Renegade have been wrestling on AEW Dark along with various other promotions. They get a shot to make a name for themselves, by facing two of the women at the top of the women’s division. I wouldn’t be surprised if AEW made the match for the TBS Championship on AEW Rampage.

John Silver & Alex Reynolds vs House of Black

Silver and Reynolds challenged House of Black on AEW Dynamite. They said they were tired of them bullying everyone and wanted to fight. House of Black accepted, and the match was made official. We haven’t seen the Dark Order on weekly television much recently. They have a big task ahead of them with trying to beat the House of Black, who have been on a tear lately. They are proving themselves to be a very dominant faction, with a dark side. Both teams are looking to get a win to help build momentum.

Private Party vs Lucha Brothers

Private Party has been wrestling on AEW Dark as of late. They are a young team that improves every time they step into a ring. They have a bright future ahead of them but beating the Lucha Brothers will help bring them success sooner. The Lucha Brothers are former AEW World Tag-Team Champions. They constantly prove themselves to be one of the best tag teams in the world. Both teams need a win, so this match is high stakes. Both Teams also wrestle in a similar, high-flying base, so this one should be filled with amazing moves.

*Ring of Honor World Championship Match*

Lee Moriarty vs Jonathan Gresham (c)

This match was made official after last week’s AEW Dynamite. Gresham and Moriarty teamed up to take on Gates of Agony. Gresham shocked the world when he walked out on his partner, Moriarty, and aligned himself with Tully Blanchard and the Gates of Agony. Moriarty called out Gresham and demanded his title shot. Gresham answered the call and the two are facing off on AEW Rampage. Ring of Honor’s pay-per-view Death Before Dishonor is right around the corner, so it will be interesting to see who heads into the pay-per-view as champion. There is no match for the ROH World Championship set for the show, so I suspect something will happen tonight to lead to a match.
