AEW Dynamite Preview (10/5/22): It’s National Scissoring Day

AEW Dynamite has been improving in terms of the quality of the show. I wish I could say the same for Rampage, but I’m still happy Dynamite is getting better. The show is packed with matches and segments. It even has a special run time of two hours and 15 minutes; the show is usually only two hours. With this much action packed into two hours and fifteen minutes of television, there’s no telling what’s going to happen. So, here’s what to expect heading into AEW Dynamite.

Luchasaurus In Action

Luchasaurus is set to be in action, which usually means he is going to face a freelancer in a squash match. Luchasaurus has aligned himself with Christian Cage and has proven himself to be one of the most dominant wrestlers in AEW. Furthermore, he has proven he has an aggressive side to him. While it’s unclear who is going to be facing, I would hate to be the one standing across the ring from him.

National Scissoring Day

It’s going to be a scissoring party as The Acclaimed celebrate national scissoring day.

The Acclaimed are the newly crowned AEW tag team champions. They won the belts at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam a few weeks ago. In their first title defense, they beat Private Party, and the Butcher and the Blade. It’s clear that the former AEW tag team champions, Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland, are still unhappy about their loss, so it’s important for The Acclaimed to keep their head on a swivel. It’s hard to think of what to expect during this, but one thing is for sure, it will be entertaining.

Toni Storm (c), Willow Nightingale and Athena vs. Jamie Hayter, Serena Deeb and Penelope Ford

The entire women’s division has been feuding over the past couple of weeks. It started when Saraya debuted in AEW. She called out some of the women’s division to give them the praise they deserve, but that group was missing Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, Serena Deeb and Penelope Ford.

Since then, these women have been going at it. Deeb had a shot at the AEW women’s championship but fell short. Meanwhile, Hayter picked up an impressive win over Willow Nightingale on Rampage. It’s clear these two groups do not like each other and will go to any extent to inflict pain. With Saraya and Baker looming in the background, it’s likely this won’t be a clean win for any side.

Darby Allin vs Jay Lethal

Darby Allin has strung together a couple of victories in a row. He’s gaining some momentum and picking up a victory over a veteran like Jay Lethal will bolster his resume.

Allin is coming off of an intense and violent no disqualification match. He and Sting took on House of Black in this incredibly violent and hard-hitting affair. Allin even had to get staples in his head following the match.

As of late, Lethal has been having trouble getting wins. He is a veteran of professional wrestling who has held numerous titles in countless promotions. He is always trying to prove he can hang with the young guys in the business, so picking up a win against Allin will prove just that.

Rush vs. Hangman Page

Rush is coming off of an impressive victory over Dark Order’s John Silver. It was a hard-hitting match, but Rush proved he was the better man that night.

Rush has been on a tear of late. Since joining AEW, he has proven himself to be one of the more physical and hard-hitting wrestlers in the company. He’s a former two-time ROH world champion in his own right.

He is not one to be taken lightly, but Rush faces another former world champion in Hangman Page. Hangman Page won a battle royal to give him a shot at the AEW world title, but before that, he faces Rush. Page is friends with the Dark Order and has always been by their side. After Rush beat John Silver, Page came out to the rescue as Rush attacked him post-match. He’s looking to get revenge on Rush on behalf of the Dark Order.

MJF vs. Wheeler Yuta

MJF has taken AEW by storm since returning at All Out. He won the casino ladder match, which means he has an opportunity at the AEW world title whenever he wants.

In recent weeks, he found himself in a feud with Wheeler Yuta. Yuta interrupted MJF during a promo and the following week did the same thing. Yuta came out before MJF was supposed to cut a promo and challenged him to a fight. MJF agreed to the fight, but for the following week.

MJF is now stepping into the ring for the first time since May of this year. These two have crossed paths before in different promotions. But this is the first time in a while that they will face off one-on-one. Both of these men are some of AEW’s best young talented wrestlers. It’s an ultimate grudge match between two people who just don’t like each other.

Daniel Garcia and Bryan Danielson vs. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara

Daniel Garcia has been having issues with his group, the Jericho Appreciation Society. Garcia is slowly drifting away from the group and is proving to be a professional wrestler, not a sports entertainer. Meanwhile, Bryan Danielson has been trying to make Garcia realize he shouldn’t be a part of that group.

Danielson is a part of the Blackpool Combat Club and hates everything the Jericho Appreciation Society stands for. The two groups have been feuding for months. Furthermore, Danielson and Chris Jericho have been feuding for weeks. Jericho beat Danielson at All Out, but Danielson evened the matches after he beat Jericho on Dynamite.

Danielson and Jericho are going to face off for the ROH title in a couple of weeks, but before that, they meet in this tag team match. It’s going to be interesting to see how everything unfolds in this match.

*TNT Championship Match*

Brian Cage vs Wardlow (c)

Brian Cage hasn’t wrestled on a weekly AEW television show since October of 2021. He is signed with ROH and has been wrestling in different promotions since. He gets an opportunity of a lifetime as he has a chance to win the TNT title. Cage is facing the TNT champion, Wardlow, in what is going to be an extremely physical match.

Cage is one of the strongest wrestlers in the world, but he’s also extremely nimble. He does things no one should at his size. Cage is a former FTW champion in his own rights, so he knows how big of an opportunity this is for him.

Wardlow has been on an extremely dominant run since winning the TNT title. He has held numerous open challenges and has defeated everyone who has answered. Although, he hasn’t faced any like Brian Cage before. Cage is going to offer quite the test for Wardlow. These are two of the more physical and big-body wrestlers in the business. It’s essentially King Kong vs Godzilla in what is going to be an intensely physical match on AEW Dynamite.
