AEW Dynamite Preview (10/12/22): AEW’s First-Ever International Show

AEW Dynamite is hosting its first-ever international show. Dynamite will be live from Toronto, Canada, and features some intriguing matches on the card. It’s no secret that AEW has been facing some drama in the company lately. Also, Dynamite and Rampage have been seriously lackluster as of late. With WWE getting better and better with every show, it puts pressure on AEW to step it up. It’s shocking to think that they haven’t held a show internationally yet. But it’s definitely a step in the right direction. So is Dynamite going to be worth the watch? Here’s what to expect heading into the show.

Toni Storm (c) & Hikaru Shida vs Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter

The women’s division is seemingly split in half. On one side you have Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter, amongst others. But Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter have had their share of problems with the AEW women’s champion, Toni Storm. Hikaru Shida became involved over the past couple weeks to help Toni Storm and the other half of the women’s division. These four women have crossed paths a lot in recent weeks, and get another shot at one another. The feud seemingly is even, as both sides are racking up wins against the other. These are four of the top wrestlers in the women’s division, and they are set to go at it on AEW Dynamite.

Billy Gunn vs Swerve Strickland

Billy Gunn has been having a lot of success since joining forces with the Acclaimed. After he left his own sons, Austin and Colton Gunn, he has been a tremendous help to the AEW tag team champions, the Acclaimed. Billy Gunn has over fifty wins in his AEW career. So, he is showing he can still get the win even at his age. Billy Gunn helped the Acclaimed beat Swerve in our Glory to become AEW tag team champions. Well, that doesn’t sit well with Swerve Strickland, and that’s the reason this match is happening.

Strickland is still upset with how the match went down, and hasn’t been the same since. While Swerve Strickland is now a tag team wrestler, he has had a lot of success as a singles competitor in his career. He’s 4-2 in AEW as a singles competitor, and is looking to pick up a win against a legend of professional wrestling.

Jack Perry vs Luchasaurus

This is the classic tale of two best friends turned enemies. Luchasaurus has been tormenting Jack Perry since he aligned himself with Christian Cage. Perry has wanted this match for a while and now he gets it. He is undersized against the massive Luchasaurus, but his heart is something that can’t be taken away from him. Luchasaurus has 70 wins in his AEW career and is 3-0 on the year in singles competition. He has been destroying every competitor he has faced and showed he is a serious threat to the entire locker room.

Jack Perry is looking to get revenge on Luchasaurus for all the pain he has caused him over the past couple of months. Perry needs to keep the match at a high pace if he wants to win. Furthermore, Christian Cage will be looming in the background. So, Perry is going to need to stay focused on what is in front of him on AEW Dynamite.

*AEW All-Atlantic Championship Match*

Orange Cassidy vs PAC (c)

Orange Cassidy is challenging PAC for the All-Atlantic championship again. Cassidy challenged for the title at AEW Grand Slam a couple weeks ago. He suffered the loss in a controversial fashion. While the ref’s back was turned, PAC grabbed the hammer by the ring bell and hit Cassidy in the head with it. That cost Cassidy the title in what was a hard-fought match. PAC has been defending his title more as of late. Most recently, he beat Trent Beretta at the Battle of the Belts 4. But that was also in controversial fashion as he did the same thing to Beretta he did to Cassidy. After PAC’s match against Dark Order, Cassidy attacked him backstage and demanded a rematch for the title. So here we are: Cassidy gets another shot at the title on AEW Dynamite, while PAC is trying to move on from this feud.

*ROH World Championship Match*

Bryan Danielson vs Chris Jericho (c)

For the third time in AEW, Bryan Danielson and Chris Jericho will step into the ring together. It’s no secret these two men absolutely hate each other. Their two factions have been feuding for months and are now facing off at the next level. Since Chris Jericho beat Claudio Castagnoli to become the ROH World Champion, he has been causing chaos. He has spit in the face of everything ROH stands for. Furthermore, Jericho has vowed to destroy ROH and its legacy. He started by attacking ROH ring announcer Bobby Cruise after his match against Bandido.

Jericho wants to destroy and erase every world champion in ROH. So his next target is Bryan Danielson. These two know each other well. They both hold one win against the other in AEW, so this is the rubber match. Danielson last held the ROH world title in 2006, and his last world title reign was in 2019. He has held countless titles spanning numerous promotions over his illustrious career so he knows what it takes to win the big one. Jericho has the home-field advantage since AEW Dynamite is in Canada this week.
