2024 College Football Games of the Week: Week 10

This week might be the weakest slate of games since conference play started. There are only two ranked vs ranked games in week 10. However, both games have huge CFB Playoff and conference championship implications. Also, there are some fun conference games spread out between the Power Four conferences this Saturday. However, the non-group of four playoff race might be the most exciting race right now. Boise State, Tulane, Army, and Memphis are the teams with the best chance to make the CFB Playoff. Sometimes the weeks you expect the least from are the ones that deliver the most. Here, are my 2024 college football games of the week for week ten.

Honorable Mentions: No. 19 Ole Miss @ Arkansas, Duke @ No. 5 Miami, No. 1 Oregon @ Michigan, No. 13 Indiana @ Michigan State

5) Florida @ No. 2 Georgia (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN+)

This SEC rivalry game got a lot more interesting after the past few weeks. Florida has won three out of their last four games and Georgia’s last game was a win over No. 1 Texas. Freshman QB DJ Lagway will start again this week for the Gators after he looked good last week. The Gators are playing some of their best football of the year and they will need that momentum if they want to pull off the upset. Florida will have a tough task scoring against this Georgia defense that just dominated Texas.

This game is one of the few neutral-site rivalry games still alive in college football. The “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” is played in Jacksonville, Florida. Unfortunately, Florida’s coach Billy Napier has a horrible record in rivalry games as he is 1-9 with the Gators. Ultimately, I think this game will be entertaining but an upset might be a bit out of reach.

4) No. 10 Texas A&M @ South Carolina (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN+)

This game is huge because Texas A&M is the number-one team in the SEC. The Aggies are undefeated in conference play and are in the driver’s seat to make the SEC title game. They have a matchup with Texas at the end of the year but they will need to handle business the next three weeks starting with South Carolina.

The Gamecocks have had an up-and-down 2024 college football season. South Carolina has had close losses to Alabama and LSU but the Gamecocks have dominated Oklahoma and Kentucky. South Carolina with a healthy QB LaNorris Sellers and their solid defensive line can cause some trouble for any team. This week 10 game holds some upset potential if Texas A&M is not fully awake after last week’s huge win.

3) Louisville @ No. 11 Clemson (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN)

It’s about time Clemson made it back into the college football games of the week list. The Tigers’ schedule has been pretty weak as they have faced the bottom ACC teams. However, they have looked amazing and dominated every single game. Now, QB Cade Klubnik and RB Phil Mafah will take on an exciting Louisville team.

The Cardinals are fresh off a back-and-forth win over Boston College and a 52-45 shootout loss against a No. 6 Miami. The over/under for this game opened at 61.5. This game should have a lot of points scored between these two high-powered offenses. I think this game will be a fun week ten ACC matchup and it will give Clemson a chance to break into the top ten rankings.

2) No. 18 Pitt @ No. 20 SMU (8:00 p.m. ET, ACC Network)

Now, this is the real best ACC game in week ten which no one saw coming before the season started. This game is huge because both teams have a strong chance to play in the ACC title game. Also, both teams have a small outside chance to make the CFB Playoff off of résumé if they win out.

Pitt’s defense has been great this year and QB Eli Holstein is doing his job by keeping the offense moving. However, outside of last week’s meltdown, SMU has played strong football all year. The offense has had no issues scoring against any team not named BYU and the defense has gotten stops when it matters. Both of these teams have overachieved this season. Pitt is among the eight remaining undefeated teams and SMU is in title game contention in their first year in the ACC. I expect a fun one with a lot on the line on Saturday.

Game of the Week: No. 4 Ohio State @ No. 3 Penn State (12 noon, ET, Fox)

This game had to be the game of the week for week ten. This game is one of the biggest college rivalries every year but this is the first time since 1996 that both teams are ranked in the top 5. Ohio State survived a scare from Nebraska last week and now the Buckeyes face a tougher test in Penn State. The Nittany Lions are undefeated this year as they take on their toughest task of the 2024 college football season.

There are stars on both teams on both sides of the field. Furthermore, the running back matchup in this one is fantastic. Ohio State has RB Quinshon Judkins and RB TreVeyon Henderson and Penn State has RB Kaytron Allen and RB Nicholas Singleton. Unfortunately, Penn State QB Drew Allan’s status is not known yet for this week but he has a chance to play. Ultimately, this is always one of the most hyped games of the year and it finally has all the important stakes to go with it this year. These were my 2024 college football games of the week for week 10.
