2023 NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 8
I’m just going to level with you right now. You’re not getting a long 2023 NFL Draft Stock Report post this week. It’s just the way it worked out this week. Some things are more important right now. Nothing is more important than watching the Yankees get pounded.
Two games. That’s all you’re getting this week. I promise you that you will get your money’s worth like always. You get the best draft information for free so don’t cry about it. Syracuse vs. Clemson, UCLA vs. Oregon. That’s the card this week. We will have more next week.
Syracuse vs. Clemson
KJ Henry had a sack. Think he’s probably really good. Tyler Davis had one too. Also probably in. Bryan Bresee is a tier above those but the point is it’s hard to go wrong with these Clemson defensive linemen (Minus Clelin Ferrell who we have been over is overrated. Something we called many years ago).
You know what I want to talk about. DJ Uiagalelei got benched. It was terrible. I didn’t love watching it. It broke my heart a little. Let’s just get this over with and talk about what matters because I’m pretty sure I figured out what happened.
This is the Greg Oden of quarterbacks. You can use it if you want to but I better get credit if I hear another person use that line. Uiagalelei is just a big house that was bigger and scarier than everyone else when he was growing up. We’re all grown up now. Guy can’t play fast and it sucks. Has talent. Not sure it will ever translate because of that flaw. It’s why you all missed on Tua Tagovailoa and will miss on Bryce Young.
You all saw it. Can’t make a decision. Holds onto the ball too long. Bad fumble on a read option. Can’t play fast. It happens. Some guys can’t. It’s better we found out now than when it looks like it’s happening for Trey Lance because we didn’t get to see enough starts. You notice they both kinda run like head down eyes never up field?
We saw what happened. It only makes it worse that Cade Klubnik posting 19 yards of passing offense felt like the moon in the end. Two picks for DJ on a 13 for-21 performance. 128 total passing yard before getting the hook.
It matters. I’m going to say it again so it sticks. Right now he can’t play fast. He can’t do those three-layer reads that Hendon Hooker is doing right now. His best chance is to hope some elite coach can pull that out of him next year. Maybe a UCLA transfer with Chip Kelly now that Dorion Thompson-Robinson is about to be done?

We’re not doing this Bo Nix thing. I’m not talking about it. You see what he looks like in an SEC setting. You see what he looks like in a Pac 12 game? I don’t care. End of blog. Ok, fine. Disappointed in UCLA. Was actually getting ready to credit Thompson-Robinson too.
