The fantasy football playoffs are here! It is more important than ever to find valuable players on the fantasy football waiver wire to help you finish strong and win your league. Thankfully, we have found some solid waiver wire options to help you win your league.
*All of the following players are available in more than half of ESPN leagues.*
Cleveland Brown receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones is — somehow — available in more than half of fantasy football leagues. I am not sure how, but he is. Since Week 6, Peoples-Jones has only had one game with less than ten PPR points. But he had his best performance in Week 14, hauling in eight catches for 114 yards.
Peoples-Jones is one of the best fantasy football waiver wire options heading into Week 15. He has been consistently good for weeks, so he is a relatively safe addition. But he has upside too. If Deshaun Watson can start to play better down the stretch, Peoples-Jones will be a solid starting option.
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram has not had a terrible year up to this point. In comparison to other tight ends, he has been around the middle of the pack. However, in Week 14 he exploded for 11 receptions, 162 yards and two touchdowns. Obviously, Engram will not continuously produce at that level for the remainder of the season. Still, that does not mean he will not be fantasy relevant — especially, if you are struggling at the tight end position.
Engram’s tremendous Week 14 performance was not an isolated game. He also played well in Week 13. Not to mention Trevor Lawrence has been playing great of late. That is not to say that Lawrence has been bad, rather, he has elevated his game to another level recently. If Lawrence continues to play at a high level, Engram will be a great tight end to have.
Kansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon looks to be the best waiver wire at running back this week. In all honesty, McKinnon is only here to make sure that we have a running back in the mix. If you desperately need a waiver wire running back McKinnon is your guy.
McKinnon looked good in Week 14. He only tallied six carries for 22 yards, but he had seven receptions for 112 yards and two touchdowns.
Now, McKinnon is not a player you want in standard leagues. He is far more valuable in PPR leagues. Isiah Pacheco will out carry McKinnon every week. McKinnon will be able to produce in the passing game, though. Right now, there are a lot of questions about the Chiefs’ receiving room, which could allow McKinnon to get more targets. More importantly, he is a running back in an elite offense and that is always nice.
Before you add McKinnon, make sure to check your waiver wire and make sure there are not better options. There are a lot of better running back options like Zonovan Knight and J.K. Dobbins that are only rostered in 50 to 60 percent of leagues. These guys would be better options than McKinnon, but for this post, we are looking for guys that are under the 50 percent mark.
San Fransico 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is looking like a solid quarterback option heading down the stretch. The 49ers are going to stick with Purdy for the remainder of the year and it looks like it is going to pay off. In his first start, Purdy finished with 185 yards, two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.
Purdy will benefit from being the quarterback of the 49ers. Kyle Shanahan is an elite head coach, and he will be surrounded by a solid team. It also helped that his 49ers teammates have claimed that Purdy is hung. Purdy has performed well, he is in a good offense, has a good coach and his teammates love him. Things are looking up for Purdy. He is one of the better waiver wire streaming options and is worthy of the pickup if you need a quarterback.
There are a lot of good receiver options this week, and I am going to ride with New York Jets receiver Elijah Moore for Week 15.
Moore finished Week 14 with 10 targets, six catches, and 60 yards. That is a season-high in targets and catches. More importantly, the Jets threw 47 passes last week. The Jets have moved on from Zach Wilson at quarterback — at least for now — and the Jets’ receivers have received a bump in fantasy value as a result.
There was some competition for the final spot of this week’s waiver wire post. The other options were Lions’ receivers DJ Chark and Jameson Williams. Ultimately, Moore was the option because he has a better matchup in Week 15. The Jets and Lions will face off next week. I am not breaking news here, but the Jets have a much better defense than the Lions. It also does not help that Chark and Williams will eat into each other’s receiving load. That makes Moore a better streaming option heading into week 15. Williams and Chark will be better season-long options though.
