2022 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Best Pickups for Week 13

It is important to prepare your team for the fantasy football playoffs as we are heading into Week 13 of the 2022 fantasy football season. Unfortunately, this week the fantasy football waiver wire is poor at best. Nonetheless, we are here to find some talent to help improve your team. Here are five of the best waiver wire pickups for Week 13 of the 2022 NFL season.

*All of these players are available in more than half of ESPN leagues.*

Zay Jones

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones had his best game of 2022 in Week 12, finishing with 14 targets for 11 receptions and 145 yards. That’s a productive day.

Jones has been good, but slightly inconsistent in 2022. If he can start stringing some good games together, he could be a solid player to have on your bench come playoff time.

Jones may see an uptick in targets down the stretch as well. Travis Etienne got injured in Week 12 and without James Robinson, who was traded to the Jets, the Jaguars are thin at running back. Jacksonville could look to the passing game to work around that issue. Even if that does not turn out to be true, Jones is one of the better waiver wire options in an underwhelming group of players.

Jones is not a bad streaming option in Week 13 either. The Jaguars are playing the Lions, who have allowed several receivers to rack-up points. In addition, Jeff Okudah was out with a concussion in Week 12. If he is held out again in Week 13, Jones will be an even better streaming option.

Mike White

The New York Jets benched quarterback Zach Wilson in Week 12 and Mike White stepped up in his place, tallying 315 yards and three touchdowns. If White holds the Jets starting quarterback job, he will be a solid waiver wire pickup. Most importantly, he has pieces like Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore and others to help him produce. Outside of Wilson, the Jets do not have elite playmakers, but White could have far worse options.

I am not trying to tell you that White will be an elite option to close out the 2022 fantasy football season, however, he will put up more points than a lot of quarterbacks who are available in more than half of leagues.

Obviously, adding White is entirely dependent on your situation. If you are in a one-quarterback league and have an elite quarterback you do not need White. In contrast, he will be a better option in two-quarterback leagues.

Michael Gallup

Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Gallup has not been tremendous in 2020. As of right now, he is only averaging 7.20 fantasy points per game in PPR formats.

With that being said, I do not think it is time to sell on Gallup. After all, he is still a solid receiver and in a productive offense. The only receiver that is clearly ahead of him on the depth chart is CeeDee Lamb and Gallup is still getting a respectable amount of targets.

This is a good time to add Gallup. The waiver wire is weak and there are not a ton of appealing options. If he can see a slight improvement in production he can be a solid piece on your team.

Gus Edwards

Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards was a solid waiver wire option all the way back in Week 8. At the time, Edwards was a solid option because J.K. Dobbins was placed on injured reserve. The issue was that Edwards was placed on injured reserve the following week. Fortunately, he made a quick return and played in Week 12, tallying 16 carries for 52 yards and a touchdown.

It is clear Edwards will get carries as long as Dobbins is out. However, Dobbins is returning to practice this week. It is unknown when he will make an in-game appearance. Edwards would be a far more appealing option if Dobbins’ return was not on the horizon. Still, he is worth the waiver wire addition for Week 12. At a minimum, we are looking at one solid week to stream Edwards.

Elijah Moore

I was very hesitant to include Elijah Moore as a player to pick up off waivers this week. I almost said Nico Collins instead. In all honesty, I do not love Moore, but as we have come to realize this week is void of a lot of great options.

Moore has had a poor 2022 season. He even requested a trade at one point this season. With that being said, he is coming off his best game of 2022. He only had two catches, but he had 64 yards and a touchdown. That ends up being a solid game by the end of the day. With White under center, Moore could end up seeing an increase in fantasy value. Once again, I do not love Moore, but I do not love the alternative options either.
