The Minnesota Vikings continue to be one of the most boring teams in the NFL. They’re going nowhere with Kirk Cousins but continue to commit to him year after year. Heading into the 2021 NFL Draft, once again they feel like a franchise stuck in the middle. Let’s go inside the war room to see what the Vikings may do during the 2021 NFL Draft.

  • First-Round Pick, 14th overall
  • Third-Round Pick, 78th overall
  • Third-Round Pick (from Ravens), 90th overall
  • Fourth-Round Pick, 119th overall
  • Fourth-Round Pick (from Bears), 125th overall
  • Fourth-Round Pick (from Bills), 134th overall
  • Fourth-Round Pick (compensatory), 143rd overall
  • Fifth-Round Pick, 157th overall
  • Fifth-Round Pick (from Steelers), 168th overall
  • Sixth-Round Pick, 199th overall

The Vikings have a boatload of picks. The only downside to this draft is that they do not have a 2nd round pick. The Yannick Ngakoue trade will do that to you. They recouped a third rounder from Baltimore but still looks like bad business on their end.

I don’t know how the Vikings aren’t thinking quarterback. The good news is they pick ahead of the Patriots. The bad news is that pick 14 still isn’t high enough to land one of those stars. How many years can you go into the season with Kirk Cousins? It’s a slap in the face to the entire fan base.

You gotta think the Vikings will pick a quarterback at some point. Could they be a sneaky suitor for Davis Mills of Stanford? Mills was a big time recruit but struggled to stay on the field. Sounds like a perfect developmental candidate to sit behind bum Kirk for a year.

Two third round picks does give them some flexibility. Luckily, the Vikings upgraded their defense in a big way. Taking a shot on an edge rusher like Daelin Hayes? He was a productive player for Notre Dame that fits in those middle rounds.

What about a linebacker like Pete Werner? Ryan Connelly is listed as a starter right now. Yeah… exactly. Does Eric Kendricks have to do everything for this unit? Werner might not be a straight line speed burner but that dude can play.
