The 2021 Divisional Round features one of hell of a matchup between the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Cleveland Browns. Patrick Mahomes will once again look to take the Chiefs to the Super Bowl. But, Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns are looking to shock the world.
I’ll take a look at both teams and see how each one can pull out the win.

Make Baker Throw–
I could go on and on about the Chiefs’ offense we all know it’s incredible and by far their biggest strength. However, the defense will be the key in this game. The Chiefs’ best chance to win would be to neutralize Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt and turn Baker into a pocket passer. The Browns like to run the ball and excel at doing so setting up Baker for easy play-action passes. Odell Beckham Jr. getting hurt is a blessing in disguise for this team. take away the run game and force Baker to beat you with his arm.
Get The Ball To Your Playmakers–
The Chiefs have one of the best groups of playmakers in the NFL. That makes them very dangerous as they can beat you in a plethora of ways. Get Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill the ball and good things will happen. Coming off the bye they should be well-rested and ready to rock.
Andy Reid Off a Bye–
Andy Reid never losses off of a Bye and that is a big advantage for the Chiefs. The Browns had an emotional breaking-through the Steelers game. Finally lifting that curse of never winning in Pittsburgh. The Browns could have some let-downitis in this one and best believe Reid will take advantage.
Keep The Ball From Mahomes-
One of the biggest keys of the game for the Browns will be winning the time of possession battle. The more you keep Mahomes off the field the better chances you have to win. However, the Chiefs can score quickly so at least take advantage of this aspect. Do not let Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense win the possession battle. That spells an easy win for the Chiefs. Mahomes has had a great 2020, but it ain’t 2020 anymore.
Create Turnovers-
Another part of the puzzle for the Browns would be to win the turnover battle just like in the Steelers game. This is the most important piece for the Browns as they are a run heavy team and cannot afford to turn the ball over. The Browns are not a quick strike team, which is ok, as long as you win the turnover battle you have a great chance to win. Mahomes doesn’t throw picks often so the defensive backs will have to make him pay when they get their hands on the ball.
Pressure Mahomes With a Four Man Rush-
Getting Mahomes down is not easy he’s a crafty player throwing from some crazy angles and situations. His scrambling ability is also very underrated and should not be taken lightly. If the Browns can force pressure on Mahomes, with the four-man rush, and sit in coverage. That will allow more opportunities for turnovers and make Mahomes less-comfortable in the pocket.
Now, I may be eating the cheese here. But, I was all over this Browns team last week and I’m sticking to my guns in this one. Bold takes only over here. The backward hat kind of guys advance to the AFC Championship.
