2020 NFL Draft
Remember when this was a thing? The 2020 NFL Draft is a big one for the Arizona Cardinals who are close to competing again. (Tom Pennington/Getty Images)

I love the direction the Arizona Cardinals are heading. Kyler Murray looks like a successful pick. They nailed the offseason trading for DeAndre Hopkins. A strong 2020 NFL Draft puts Arizona a lot closer than you may think. The Cardinals have a bright future so let’s head inside the war room to see what’s next.

The Cardinals do have just 6 picks in this draft so they have some work to do. The picks we will focus on for this post are 8 and 72 overall. The Cardinals don’t have a 2nd round pick cause of the Hopkins trade but were able to pick up a 4th back from Houston. More than worth it.

In the first round, I really think Arizona has to be tempted to take CeeDee Lamb in this spot. What if you have Lamb and Hopkins on the same field together? Talk about a mentor! Murray also has familiarity playing with Lamb at Oklahoma. Those two guys who Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk. WOW!

I think the more practical pick is the tackle position. Re-Signing DJ Humphries for the right side was a good start. Drafting a cornerstone left tackle would do wonders for Murray. I’ve listed the 4 names before. You know who they are. Mekhi Becton, Andrew Thomas, Jedrick Wills, and Tristan Wirfs. Arizona might have their pick of the liter if the Giants don’t pick one.

In the 3rd round, what about someone like Jabari Zuniga or Jonathan Greenard? Who knows which will be available but taking one of the Florida edge rushers could be a smart route to take. I’m much higher on Greenard but this is a position of need. Outside of Chandler Jones, who’s getting after the quarterback for the Cardinals?
