Treylon Burks 2022 NFL Draft Profile
This one is hard. It’s time for the Treylon Burks 2022 NFL Draft profile. Burks, in my opinion, may be the hardest wide receiver evaluation in this year’s draft. Are we sure he’s even good? Let’s go over what you should know.
As the Old Man says, he’s not a route running genius. That’s so hard to overcome at the NFL level. You’re going to have to be creative with this guy. Not saying he can’t work but Burks remains very much a mystery at this point.
Let’s go over so positives. Can run well enough. 4.55 40 time is fine. 6-foot-2 will do. Has baseball background. Which is interesting because on deep balls, the guy just tracks it well and wins those matchups. There is something to it. Not a pure rebounder but has production that can’t be ignored.
On the contrary, I’m just not sure he’s an athletic demon like the guys that have worked. The two Ole Miss monsters (AJ Brown & DK Metcalf) come to mind. Not the most physical guy. Not a leaper. Not a route runner period. Thought his combine kinda stunk actually.
Maybe it sounds a bit harsh but Burks is far from safe. I do think there is a chance he flourishes at the NFL level but there is more work to be done here. Does he almost have to become more of a big body target like a Claypool? What’s his path? Remains to be seen.
I do like the talent. Burks is in my wide receiver rankings. Just needs to be noted that anybody that tells you they know exactly what this guy is at the NFL level is lying.
