Sound the alarms, ring the bell, call in the pope; Tom Brady has announced his favorite target in Tampa Bay. It’s not Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, or Rob Gronkowski. No my friends. I think we should have all seen this coming. Tom Brady loves Scotty Miller and I mean LOVES.
Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times has reported that Scotty Miller is right now Brady’s favorite target:
“He’s another great, consistent, dependable, trustworthy player,” Brady said. “Whatever we talk about, he takes it to the next practice and his play is showing everybody that he’s earned a big role. You can trust where he’s going to be, he makes the plays when they come his way. He’s really been fun to work with and fun to see grow from the minute I got here.”
This has Julian Edelman, Wes Welker, and Danny Amendola written all over it. Tom Brady and our guy Scott Logush for whatever reason has an infatuation with the short, white slot receiver. Scott listed Miller as one of his “who the fuck is that guy” candidates this year. A pick that’s looking better by the day.
Miller, 23, was a 6th round pick out of the University of Bowling Green a year ago. If Miller really has carved out a role in this offense, it seems like he will be the slot guy. That could have a huge impact on Chris Godwin who did a lot of damage out of the slot a year ago.
Miller ended his rookie season with 13 receptions for 200 yards and a score. If Tom Brady wants Scotty Miller on the field, then he’s going to be on the field. It will be curious to see the type of on field connection these two will develop.
