Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Content Will Slow as Resources Shift To GTA VI – Reports

Rockstar Games Inc. is one of the biggest and most popular video game publishers in the business. They have two mega products in Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, which are among the most popular video game franchises. It appears that Rockstar is deciding to take some support away from Red Dead Redemption 2 to focus more on GTA VI.

This statement comes from Rockstar Games themselves, as they delivered a community update.

“Over the past few years, we have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series — understanding more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be — and as a result, we are in the process of making some changes to how we support Red Dead Online“

(Translated Quote From Rockstar Games Inc.)

These are two of Rockstar’s biggest properties, but it has always been clear that GTA reigns supreme, and, to be fair, not many franchises are in the same realm as GTA. Red Dead fans have always wanted Rockstar to support Red Dead Online more, but Rockstar could never give the game its full attention.

Now, Rockstar has come out and stated that they will officially be shifting focus to GTA 6. This does not mean the end for Red Dead Redemption 2, as Rockstar will still add gameplay fixes, seasonal events, and upgraded game modes. It just means there will be no major content updates as Rockstar begins its GTA VI era.

Red Dead Redemption fans took a hit with the news, but gamers everywhere can be excited knowing we are closer to finally getting GTA VI.

A Quick Rockstar Games Roadmap

This is a timeline of when Rockstar Games released their recent major entries in the GTA and Red Dead Redemption franchises.

They released GTA: San Andreas to both Xbox and PlayStation 2 by 2005, and they followed this with the huge drop of GTA IV to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2008.

Rockstar then went on to strike gold when they released Red Dead Redemption in 2010. There was a four-year gap from Red Dead to when GTA V hit the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014. Red Dead Redemption 2 came out in 2018 with Red Dead Online being released in 2019.

Now, Rockstar is focusing on GTA VI, as it has been four years since the release of Red Dead 2. There is still no clear release date for GTA VI, but there was a possible 2025 GTA VI release date, according to sources. This shows how much time each game gets to shine and be supported by Rockstar before they inevitably change the landscape of gaming with one of their monumental new games.
