A Dee Ford offsides call kept the Kansas City Chiefs out of the Super Bowl and maybe even a Super Bowl championship. Now Ford is gone. So is Justin Houston and Eric Berry. Even Tyreek Hill is in trouble with the law again. It’s been a rough offseason for the Chiefs. Kansas City will hope to bolster the roster through the draft. Let’s go inside the war room. What can we expect from the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2019 NFL Draft?
First Round (Pick 29) – If the Chiefs don’t get a pass rusher at some point during the draft, all hell is going to break loose. You can’t name one edge rusher on their roster right now. Breeland Speaks sucks. This team is screwed on the defensive side of the ball. Let’s try to fix it. Brian Burns of Florida State could be a start. Think Vic Beasley. Undersized pass rusher who can attack the quarterback. He might not be the best fit in the new 4-3 system but they have to get a pass rusher somehow. Clelin Ferrell could be another option if he’s still available at this point.
Second Round (Pick 61) – The Chiefs need to go all defense. The offense can’t even be an option. Pick a spot. Any spot. Linebacker it is. Tre Lamar of Clemson could be one. Te’Von Coney another. Anthony Hitchens turned out to be a fat bust. It’s Reggie Ragland and Reggie Ragland back there.
Second Round (Pick 63) – This is the Marcus Peters pick so let’s go corner. The Chiefs barely have one corner as it is on the roster. Even Steven Nelson is gone now. This defense makes me want to vomit. There’s a couple of corners in this range that could be available. Julian Love, Trayvon Mullen, and Amani Oruwariye. Just get somebody.
If the Chiefs pick an offensive player before the 5th round, this team lost it’s mind. They have to score 50 a game to win.
