Jordan Binnington: Ready To Prove The Haters Wrong?
Treat them all bullpen pitchers. Buy low, sell high. What if Jordan Binnington is actually pretty good and was just coming off a few down years after winning a Stanley Cup? The hungry dog always runs faster. heading into your 2022 fantasy hockey leagues, I just would keep Jordan Binnington in mind if you’re looking for a goalie.
The haters are writing Binnington off completely. Emma Brown says Binnington is the most overrated goalie in the league. ESPN is continuing their fantasy hockey rankings and Victoria Matiash says the Blues goalie is the only guy you really need to avoid in drafts. Seriously, she did a whole article and Binnington was the only guy to have his own section about dudes to avoid.
That was a lot so let’s start with this. If Binnington is going to make it, he needs to be healthy. The Blues starting netminder suffered a scary knee injury in the playoffs against Colorado. All indications are that Binnington is fully healed and was a full participant today at training camp. That’s a big box that needed to be checked.
Treat them as bullpen pitchers. Isn’t the stock too low here? Shouldn’t we count on a bounceback campaign from Binnington? I’m buying the stock if you’re selling. I think Binnington has been through the trials and tribulations and feels that he has something to prove.
Binnington’s performance has dipped since winning the Stanley Cup 2019. A year ago, things go so bad that Binnington was basically benched for Ville Husso. So why should we believe in Binnington for the 2022 season?
Husso is now in Detroit so we’re going to see a full season of Binnington in net. The Blues also play a boring style of hockey and don’t really leave him out to dry. For better or worse, this is going to be Binnington’s net. People can blow smoke up Thomas Greiss’ rear end all they want. Those people are beyond delusional. Greiss and his .891 save percentage from a year ago shouldn’t be counted on for anything more than back-to-backs.
I think Binnington refound some of his sparkle during the playoffs. A 1.72 goals-against average and .949 save percentage in six games is about as good as it gets. You can see the look in his eye. Binnington has that eye of the tiger again and feels as though he has something to prove. This stock can’t get any lower and I want all of it.
Bookmark me. No hair, don’t care. Jordan Binnington is going to bounce back in a big way in 2022. The haters are going to be very sick. If you’re looking for a goalie later in your fantasy hockey drafts, I love the gamble this year. The Blues are going to be a really good team again this year and Binnington will dominate that net. I can promise you, you can do worse.
