John Harbaugh Had Some Eye-Opening Comments On Wide Receivers

The entire world knows that the Baltimore Ravens are screwed next year. Hell, John Harbaugh even admits they are. Now we have more eye-opening comments to dive into. The drama is getting juicy.

If you were a free agent wide receiver, Baltimore is probably the last place you want to go right now. They have a quarterback who can’t throw. Plus, they call more run plays than any other team in the league so it’s a hell of a lot of blocking. Sounds terrible to me. Harbaugh doesn’t see it like that.

“You’re not going to be a certain type of receiver and want to come play in Baltimore,” coach John Harbaugh said at the Annual League Meeting in Phoenix this week, via ESPN. “We have not received phone calls from some guys. That’s OK. I don’t want to hear from those guys. We want rough guys, we want tough guys.”

Okay, now this is funny. It seems like some receivers just flat out ignored the Ravens phone call in free agency. Maybe John Brown was one of them who walked in free agency. Can’t blame him, either. Brown is a hell of a receiver. The stats don’t do him justice, of course, because of how pathetic this offense is.

It’s not wide receiver friendly either. Lamar Jackson took over the offense and threw 158 pass attempts after he earned the starting job. Wide receivers were targeted an NFL-low 45 times. The league average is 80 in that span. Jackson also had a QBR of 45.1 ranking 31st in the NFL. He also ran the ball more times per game during that stretch than Ezekiel Elliott did. Talk about a disaster that everyone should see coming. The Baltimore Ravens are screwed and deep down, I think John Harbaugh knows it.

It’s a shame too because I like Harbs. I think he’s a good coach and a good culture guy. Not an offensive or defensive mastermind but a good coach nevertheless. If I were him I’d resign and say look, I’m not dealing with this. I’d rather go be a coordinator for Belichick. But that’s just me. At some point, I guess you can convince yourself of anything if you do enough brain washing.
