AEW All Out 2022: Early Match Card Predictions, Debuts, and Returns

AEW All Out is the company’s biggest show of the year. The card is always stacked with must-see dream matches. The pay-per-view takes place on Sept. 4 in Chicago, Ill. So far, there have only been two confirmed matches for the pay-per-view, but I think there’s a lot of potential for different matches that can be on the card. We’re about a month away from the show, so this is my early match card prediction for AEW All Out.

(*=Confirmed Matches)

*Trios Championship Finals

Hangman Page & The Young Bucks def. House of Black

AEW recently announced that they added trios titles to their company. The company also said they will hold a tournament in the weeks leading up to All Out, where they will hold the finals and crown the inaugural champion. AEW has numerous trios teams, so this tournament should be a good one. The team that immediately stood out to me was the House of Black. If you ask me, they deserve to win it, but I don’t think AEW is going to do that.

Hangman Page and the Young Bucks have recently reconciled and become friends again. I think AEW are going to book it as Page and the Young Bucks building back up their friendship through the tournament until they hit the finals where it all clicks. I think since neither of them is currently holding titles and since they are some of the biggest names in wrestling, they will be the inaugural champions.

Eddie Kingston def. Sammy Guevara

This match has been confirmed for AEW All Out on this week’s episode of Dynamite. Eddie Kingston can’t stand Sammy Guevara and his whole gimmick. Guevara is a part of the Jericho Appreciation Society, a group that Kingston has had his issues with in recent months. Kingston is one of the biggest wrestlers in the world right now, so it’s good to see him on the card. These two have such a contrast in styles, which makes this match very intriguing. I think Kingston needs to win since it feels like he hasn’t had much luck of late. The match doesn’t have that much build to it as of writing this, but hopefully, that is something they build up in the coming weeks.

Sasha Banks Wins the Women’s Casino Battle Royal

The past two All Out shows have featured a Casino Battle Royal match, but I think we’re going to get another Women’s Battle Royal this year. I’m going out on a limb here by predicting Sasha Banks to win the battle royal. She hasn’t been seen in WWE since she and Naomi walked out. There have been numerous reports that she requested her release and was given it.

There have also been more recent reports that Sasha and Naomi have made an agreement to return to WWE. It has also been reported that Sasha’s contract is set to expire in the near future, so that is another reason I think she isn’t going back to WWE. I don’t think she is going to return to WWE, and I think she is going to go to AEW and take over the women’s division. She is one of the best wrestlers on the planet and spent a lot of time in WWE, so I can see her wanting a fresh start in a new company.

Jungle Boy def. Christian Cage

This is the match that I’m most confident is going to happen. Jungle Boy recently returned to AEW television to confront Christian Cage. He has been chasing him for the past week. They haven’t announced when the two are going to fight as of yet, so I think it is going to be at AEW All Out. It seems like the right time to do it because this is a huge match with a lot of build to it. AEW has been having Jungle boy hunt down Cage, so I think he is going to continue to do that until the match is made official.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this match had a stipulation to it. It is an extremely personal feud, so I assume these two men would want to inflict a lot of pain on the other. I can see it being a street fight or No DQ match. I’m also going to give a bold prediction that Luchasaurus is going to turn on Jungle Boy in the weeks prior to the show. Once he aligned himself with Cage, he changed his entrance music and gear. After he revealed he was with Jungle Boy the entire time, he still has the same gear and music. It’s for that sole reason, that I think he will turn on Jungle Boy and realign himself with Cage.

TBS Championship Match

Athena def. Jade Cargill

Athena has been targeting Jade Cargill, TBS Champion, ever since she debuted in AEW. Cargill, meanwhile, has been unstoppable in AEW. She has yet to lose a match, but I think she is going to fall to Athena. It makes the most sense to me because of the gimmicks. Athena calls herself the fallen goddess and Cargill has a god-like persona, so that’s why I think the former is going to win the title. The problem with building up someone so strong as they did with Cargill is you can’t have just anyone beat them.

I was also considering having Cargill hold an open challenge and Sasha Banks being the one to answer. As enticing as that sounds, I think this version is a bit more realistic. Athena had told Kris Statlander that she is going to go after the TBS title and that Statlander should go after the world title. Cargill is having a really good run as champion, but I do think she drops the title at AEW All Out, ultimately her first loss in AEW.

AEW Women’s Championship Match

Thunder Rosa def. Toni Storm

We still don’t have a long-term challenger for Thunder Rosa. She has been defending the title but in one-off matches. I think she is going to face Toni Storm again at AEW All Out. The two have been tag-teaming of late, but Storm is the No. 1 ranked woman in the division. After suffering a loss to Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter, I think it’s time for Thunderstorm to break up.

Deciding the winner was difficult for this match. It feels like Thunder Rosa’s title reign is coming to an end, but I don’t think it’s at the hand of Toni Storm. I think the next champion will either be Statlander or Banks. Statlander said she was going to go after the world title, so that’s why I think she’s next in line to win. But with Toni Storm being the top ranked women’s wrestler, I can’t imagine she will just sit on the sidelines for the next month or so and not want her title shot. Either way, I have Thunder Rosa retaining in what will be an epic match.

AEW World Tag Team Championship Match

FTR def. Swerve in Our Glory

FTR has been having the run of a lifetime over the past couple of months. They have had classic match after classic match. They are currently the ROH, AAA, and IWGP Heavyweight tag team champions, but I don’t think they are stopping there. After the Young Bucks captured the AEW tag team titles, it felt like the goal was always to face FTR again for all of the gold. Well, the Young Bucks dropped the titles and now Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee are the champions.

This was a difficult match to decide because I feel like they would have to have the tag team champions on the card and FTR in a match. I’m fully behind giving FTR every tag team title in existence. Although Swerve in Our Glory is currently in a different feud, I don’t think it’s going to last until AEW All Out. I think FTR is going to win the AEW tag titles and Swerve Strickland is finally going to turn on Keith Lee.

Powerhouse Hobbs def. Ricky Starks

Powerhouse Hobbs recently turned on Ricky Starks and Team Taz. Hobbs attacked Starks while he was giving an emotional promo. Taz announced on Dynamite that Team Taz is done and doesn’t exist anymore. Starks has his eyes set on Hobbs, but it looks like Hobbs doesn’t really want to wrestle Starks. I’m fairly confident that this match is going to happen down the line and one with this much build and anticipation should take place at a pay-per-view like AEW All Out. Both of these men are very talented wrestlers, and they deserve to showcase their skills on the grandest stage. I think Hobbs will win, but not clean. It’s unlikely that the feud is going to just be over after one match, so I expect this to go longer than just the pay-per-view.

AEW World Championship Unification Match

CM Punk def. Jon Moxley

CM Punk has been sidelined since he had to step away after a foot injury a few months ago. Jon Moxley became the interim AEW World Champion and has been fighting week in and week out. AEW announced that once Punk is healthy, the unification match will take place to combine the two titles. AEW All Out has been the target date for Punk to return, but there’s speculation he might not be ready in time. They had a couple of AEW wrestlers visit Comic-Con a couple of weeks ago. There were reports that Punk looked uncomfortable walking around with his foot injury.

Regardless, I don’t think you have an AEW All Out in Chicago, Punk’s hometown, and not feature him. I have Punk beating Moxley, but after the match, Kenny Omega returns. Omega hasn’t been seen since he dropped the title and decided to repair some injuries that had accumulated over time. I think he is going to come back and meet face-to-face with Punk, presenting himself as the next challenger for the AEW World Championship.

Returns

I think Omega returns to confront Punk after he wins the AEW World Championship match. We’re due for an Omega return since he’s been gone for so long recovering from his injuries. Just the thought of him and Punk face-to-face in the middle of the ring gives me goosebumps.

Debuts

I know it’s bold, but I think Banks is going to debut and win the women’s Casino Battle Royal. There have been a lot of reports and speculation regarding her situation in WWE. But I think she isn’t going back and with her contract reportedly set to expire soon, I think she is debuting at All Out.
