2021 NFL Draft Grades: NFC North

The 2021 NFL Draft got turned on its head with a wild 2021 NFL Draft. Where do the Bears, Lions, Packers, and Vikings stand after an important draft? Who won? Who lost? Let’s hand out those 2021 NFL Draft grades!

Chicago Bears

Grade: A
  • R1 (11): QB Justin Fields, Ohio State
  • R2 (39): OT Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State
  • R5 (151): OT Larry Borom, Missouri
  • R6 (217): RB Khalil Herbert, Virginia Tech
  • R6 (221): WR Dazz Newsome, North Carolina
  • R6 (228): CB Thomas Graham Jr., Oregon
  • R7 (250): DI Khyiris Tonga, BYU

The Chicago Bears for the first time in my life have a real future. I can’t give them an A+ because of the haul they gave up to go get Fields. They wouldn’t of even had to if they had just gotten the 2017 NFL Draft right. Today is a good day in Chicago.

I think Justin Fields was the 2nd best quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft. The guy is a straight up baller. Accurate, efficient, athletic, and poised. He’s got it all.

I wasn’t blown away by the rest of the Bears draft but they did some good things. Our guy Scott loves Teven Jenkins. I’ll take his word for it. I actually thought Dazz Newsome might have been better than Dyami Brown. Khalil Herbert is a fine back for round six. Keep an eye on Thomas Graham and Khyiris Tonga. Both should be rotational pieces for that defense.

Detroit Lions

Grade: B-
  • R1 (7): OT Penei Sewell, Oregon
  • R2 (41): DI Levi Onwuzurike, Washington
  • R3 (72): DI Alim McNeill, NC State
  • R3 (101): CB Ifeatu Melifonwu, Syracuse
  • R4 (112): WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, USC
  • R4 (113): LB Derrick Barnes, Purdue
  • R7 (257): RB Jermar Jefferson, Oregon State

Penei Sewell saves this draft from an F. Anytime you pick up a future Hall of Fame left tackle, I can’t go lower than a B-.

I thought this was a terrible defensive line draft. I don’t get the buzz on Onwuzurike or McNeill. I don’t trust Melifonwu after the way his brother turned out. St. Brown couldn’t separate from a tree.

I do actually like the Jermar Jefferson pick but who cares. He’s not going to see the field there for awhile given the depth they have at that position.

Classic Lions.

Green Bay Packers

Grade: D
  • R1 (29): CB Eric Stokes, Georgia
  • R2 (62): C Josh Myers, Ohio State
  • R3 (85): WR Amari Rodgers, Clemson
  • R4 (142): T Royce Newman, Ole Miss
  • R5 (173): DI Tedarrell Slaton, Florida
  • R5 (178): CB Shemar Jean-Charles, App State
  • R6 (214): T Cole Van Lanen, Wisconsin
  • R6 (220): LB Isaiah McDuffie, Boston College
  • R7 (256): RB Kylin Hill, Mississippi State

Another example of where Eric Stokes saves this draft from being an F. Look, I love Eric Stokes. I think the guy is awesome. The rest of this draft stinks.

The odds that Josh Myers turns into Corey Linsley are slim to none. I’m not high on Amari Rodgers at all. I think he’s a 7th round guy that maybe is a mediocre slot at best. The rest of the draft is built on no name fliers.

Minnesota Vikings

Grade: C-
  • R1 (23): T Christian Darrisaw, Virginia Tech
  • R3 (66): QB Kellen Mond, Texas A&M
  • R3 (78): LB Chazz Surratt, North Carolina
  • R3 (86): G Wyatt Davis, Ohio State
  • R3 (90): EDGE Patrick Jones II, Pittsburgh
  • R4 (119): RB Kene Nwangwu, Iowa State
  • R4 (125): CB Camryn Bynum, California
  • R4 (134): EDGE Janarius Robinson, Florida State
  • R5 (157) WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette, Iowa
  • R5 (168): TE Zach Davidson, Zach Davidson
  • R6 (199): EDGE Jaylen Twyman, Pittsburgh

This draft sucks. Totally sucks. Once again the Vikings leave the draft with a lot of players. Just not a lot of stars. Which is why they’re in the same position they have been the last ten years. Mediocre.

What are you doing picking Kellen Mond? What are you accomplishing?

Look, I think there are some decent players here. Darrisaw, Davis, Jones, Twyman. The offensive and defensive lines probably got a bump. I just don’t think the Vikings really moved the needle at all.
